My other one was a present, and while it was nicer with a bigger screen, both easily got me point a to b. Not sure why you would spend more than this on a GPS, what more could you need. Garmin actually is a little quicker figuring out where I am when I turn it on. Had a Magellan 4250 before it was stolen, got this as a replacement until I get my new car which has one built in. Very quick to acquire satellites, accurate directions, very simple voice directions.
It was difficult to program address and switch between driver to pedestrian setting. Not user friendly.
not to say this is the best, but it is JUST AS GOOD AS THE $300 GPS units. One thing is it comes with a car charger, but NOT A WALL CHARGER. I looked at many GPS units before settling on this one. If I had to go back and do it again, I'd buy this unit again. What with all the details amazon publishes, it seems the pertinent information gets obfuscated. The price was right and it seemed to have all the features I needed.I have since taken it on a trip of several hundred miles and used it for getting around town, and it works great. I have never seen a GPS work better.
The help cards are well done but assistance provided is less than I had anticipated. Received the order very promptly.
You can use "Detour" function when you hit the traffic or blocked street. It's not perfect and did have routing error, especially before a very short distance turn, try to passed the next turn couple times, GPS will recalculate with error (instead of turning left, it told you to turn right) but it will correct itself by rerouting on next calculation couple second later.- This GPS draws real-time map a bit slower than your actual driving speed.
This is not a big deal because in nevigating mode, the GPS remind to make a turn way before reaching the intersection anyway.- Overall, this is a good-buy. For instance, right after passing an intersection, it draws the car currently at the intersection.
Bought this two weeks ago, here is my review of this GPS:- Was able to update to newest software and 2010 map. This GPS route from A to B almost the same with my familiar optimized route.
It's perfect for anyone who just need a GPS to give the direction from A to B. - This is an entry level GPS and it's great to guide you from point A to B.- Backed by Garmin, a big player in GPS industry- No text to speech feature means it won't pronoun the street name, you can read it on the screen though.- No traffic alert.
- Great routing in general.
